The most controversial feature car of 2014

There’s no shortage of people in the classic car scene willing to tell you what you are and are not allowed to do with your own car. If you really want to wind them up why not start with the paragon of British sports cars?

That’s what Richard Fairbairn did. Using an entirely rotten E-Type shell that was quietly rotting in a field he’s created a monster. This old Jag had a one way ticket to a pile of dust and it’s now taxed and tested and being ostracized by classic car enthusiasts up and down the country. The shell sits on a BMW E30 floorplan and is powered by the iron blocked M50. Bike pipes help create an almighty racket and a bucket of yacht varnish has halted the oxidisation.

This was 2014’s most fun car to both shoot and then sit back and enjoy the reaction to the pictures.
